Paul, how did you ever find Mike Noren’s rendering of the brawl? The wild-eyed bare-chested player was spot on. I noticed that in addition to the tee shirt, you can get it in a puzzle. Lol 😂 I am now a subscriber to Lost in Left Field and I find it is geared for people who really know baseball, but I am learning things. Meg
I think I was just looking for higher quality images of the fight, and Google Search only had so much to give, so it eventually showed me Gummy Arts' work and I'm glad it did! I also got a great tip from @beautyofagame after Part 1 came out pointing me in the same direction.
Paul W is a very smart, hardworking writer, and he brings you a ton of well-researched, data-informed baseball history, which I find is very complementary to what I do here at Project 3.18. If people ever want to know more about a name from one of our stories, searching for that person on Lost in Left Field is probably a great start.
I leave a lot on the cutting room floor with these stories, and I always have to stop with good stuff still ahead, lest everything become a book. After the Cubs and Padres, you've got the Tigers and Padres, and there's lots to talk about there, too. I suspect we'll be coming back for a visit one day.
PS-Gummy Art… very talented!!!!

As a Cubs fan, my 1984 memories are very different. The Cubs won the first two against the Padres, but then imploded.

I wish I had witnessed the game on TV but kudos to those that watched it live. I bet it’s a game they’ll never forget.
